I’ve been making and refining this sauce for years – a dash of this, a drizzle of that…and have finally settled upon a sauce that I think is lip smackingly good…with everything! Smear it on homemade pizzas, add it to some penne pasta, or just get a nice wedge of toasted ciabatta and spread it all over. No cooking required for the sauce, just a simple blitz and it’s good to go.
Ingredients:
400g tin of plum tomatoes
2 large cloves raw garlic (roughly chopped)
A handful fresh basil (including stalks – they add LOADS of flavour)
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon seasalt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon caster sugar
Instructions:
1. Pop all of the ingredients in to a jug then blitz with a hand blender until smooth
