Serano ham & fig pizza

I love the sweet and savoury mix of ham and pineapple on a pizza and so wondered whether there were other nice fruit and meat combinations that worked well together. I love fig and serano ham together and to put them onto a pizza was genius (even if I do say so myself!)

3 x fresh figs (cut into wedges (you can eat the whole thing, no need to peel/de-seed etc)

4 large thin cut slices of serano ham

1 dessert spoon of honey

1 cupful of passata

A handful of fresh basil leaves

1 fresh ball of mozerella

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and ground black pepper to season

Pizza base – I bought my pizza dough fresh from Lidels but you can make your own – see Jamie Oliver’s website for a dough recipe here…

1. Spread out your pizza dough onto a hot baking tray and with the back of a spoon, thinly smear the passata so that it covers the dough and season well

2. Thinly slice the mozzarella and lay  over the pizza base

3. Tear the serano ham with your fingers and lay on-top of the mozzarella

4. Evenly spread the figs over the serano ham and then drizzle over the olive oil and honey

5. Pop the pizza into the oven on the top shelf, gas mark 6 for approx 20 minutes, or until the middle is nice and hot, the bottom crispy and the toppings have started to brown.
